Microsoft is in to Franchise?

Found the Small business for sale by a fluke, and got a little confused.

It’s a rather nice site, listing different franchise business opportunities (so the name is a bit misleading), you just enter an industry, how much you’re prepared to invest and where you want to set up shop, and they find a franchise that suits you.

But what caught my eye was…

Welcome to SmallBusinessSale.com, owned and operated by Microsoft Corporation.

a template leftover or something left behind from the design, and in my eyes not playing in favor of them, so I had to investigate.

The cool thing is that it’s true!

SBS is operated by Franchise Gator, which is owned by aQuantive, which is in turn a fully owned subsidiary of Microsoft!

Although they got the site(s) when they acquired aQuantive, if find it amusing that Microsoft is in to the franchise business…

Gangsta’s Paradise

In the movie Boyz n’ the Hood (from -91) there’s one scene in particular that I remember when they’re home at Ice Cube’s character Doughboy’s house they had these plastic slipcovers over the sofa’s…

I was amused to see this, and after that I noticed these slipcovers in almost all American movies. Slipcovers doesn’t exist in Sweden, in that way anyhow - especially the plastic ones. What’s the idea of to buy a sofa if you’re not going to take it out of it’s wrapper?

United States of America, the land of great freedom, lots of cool gadgets and sometimes the most hilarious inventions.

Invitations

It’s nearing the time when my wife doesn’t get older… trying to be somewhat diplomatic here ;-)

Of-course this adds to my never-ending list of rants of Sweden, when it comes to cool stuff in the stores. Just take a simple thing like party invitation cars - you only have stock here, if you want to have professional one-off cards it’ll cost you big bucks!

Stores like thepartystartshere.com is non-existent in Sweden - and you can’t just not love their Halloween invitations section, even though it’s slightly (cough) off-topic.

I’m thinking about ordering it over-seas, but I shudder at what the postage will be.
