Babies cost a lot of money, even before they’re born. A lot of people doesn’t seem to know this. I just thought about this when a friend told me how much strollers cost these days… when we were expecting our son, we bought this package that had a stroller, crib, feeding chair and some toys and stuff like that for about $950, nowadays a brand-spanking new Emmaljunga Edge Duo Combi costs 8695SEK ($1,126.53) - although it’s a lot better than ours but over a grand for a stroller!

We’ve traded in our -97 Renault Laguna for a -05 Ford Maverick XLT, it’s all nice and dandy (the new car that is) if I might say so myself.
It was time for some major overhaulin’ on the Renault, and wife and I had talked a long while about changing to a SUV, so we opted to trade it for the Ford instead of fixing it.
I know that an SUV isn’t the best choice for the environment, and I sure know it isn’t nice to the wallet if you look to the fuel consumption, but do my defense I can say that we don’t drive that much around 6000 miles per year - and we desperately needed a car that actually works in the outback’s.
Most of our mileage is to and from the store and out in to the woods to train our dogs, we compete in scent trial with both.
My main concern is the one about insurance, here in Sweden it’s really hard to get a car insurance online quote - yes there are sites that offers that kind of service to a certain amount, most famous is probably PriceRunner.
Thing is that you leave your information and one of their sellers calls you with a couple of insurance options. My dilemma is that even though you’re given options, and get to know the price and what it includes for each offer - how do you know that you get the cheapest one?
I assume they only sell the ones that they get percentage of (read, affiliates), so there could probably be a couple of companies, or even plans in a company that they’re affiliated, but that doesn’t pay them as much…
Well well, the car is insured now - I can afford it, but it’s a bit more expensive than I thought.
I’ve been looking at Polkadot Patch’s baby clothes for a while, thinking about importing a couple of them.
I thought for too long, my son’s too big now to fit in the "toddler" stuff. Even though he’s only 2½ years old, he’s as big as I were when I was 4!
As a sidenote I can tell you that it can be interesting to try and convert European children’s clothe sizes to American - especially when the child in question is about twice the size he’s supposed to be.
