I have been all happy lately, bought a faster CPU (AMD64 4000+) and more RAM - 4GB worth.
Only thing that’s stupid is me, for buying a motherboard from MSI!
According to their CPU compatibility chart for my board, the CPU I bought would fit like the hand in the glove… but they’ve forgotten to mention that I need to flash my BIOS, and to do that I need to have Windows installed (I’m using Linux).
Even stingier is that I can’t use all my ram because the “old” CPU doesn’t play well with 4GB RAM.
So here I’m sitting with 2GB ram and my old CPU, trying to figure out a way to flash my BIOS without installing Windows.
So I’d recommend you all to think twice before you buy MSI - even though they give a lot of “bang for your buck”, they’re strange solutions to certain things might not suit you.
